Lifeline of Cricket

Sanju Samson is in the news for all the right reasons. He struck two hundreds in the four-match series against South Africa, justifying the captain and head coach’s trust in him. The right-handed batter has smashed three centuries in the last five matches in the shortest format. His latest century came in the fourth and final clash against the Proteas.
He faced 56 balls to score 109 not out, packed with nine sixes and six fours. During the innings break, Anant Tyagi asked RP Singh if Samson had confirmed his place for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
The former pacer said no, as he felt that there are players who could challenge the 30-year-old. “If you look at his current performances, you will say yes, but there is a lot of time left in the World Cup. Don’t forget that Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are also there. They are top performers and can manage the left-right combination.
“Samson scored two back-to-back ducks in the same series and we were discussing about the downfall in his performances. You never know what will happen when the time come,” RP Singh said on JioCinema.
Gill and Yashasvi have stayed away from T20Is due to Test matches.
