The award that will be presented at the tournament to be held in the US was announced
FIFA has gone all out to deliver a luxurious trophy to the winner of the novel Club World Cup, which will be created by Tiffany & Co.
The American company is known for its expensive pieces of jewellery, and will now venture into football to design the award to be presented in the summer of 2025.
Inspired by the journeys of the pioneers, the golden records of the Voyager spacecraft, the periodic table and astronomy, they tried to capture the design of the trophy that will be contested in the United States.
In addition, the trophy will also be engraved with FIFA’s 211 member associations, as well as featuring football illustrations and text in thirteen languages (German, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, French, Classical Greek, Hindi, English, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Portuguese and Russian), as well as Braille. The engraving on the centre ring is in Spanish, French and English.
“The trophy had to be innovative, inclusive, cutting-edge and truly global, just like the competition. The FIFA Club World Cup trophy, the equivalent of the World Cup trophy, is inspired by our history and is a groundbreaking symbol of the thriving future of club football,” said Gianni Infantino.
FIFA has designed the trophy in collaboration with Tiffany & Co, which is made of gold vermeil. The cover is laser-engraved with elements from the sport’s rich history and culture, as well as images of footballers, fans supporting their teams and the date of FIFA’s founding.
FIFA has revamped the tournament for 2025, which will feature 32 participants, and will be played from June 15 to July 13 in the United States, with Miami hosting the opening match.
The places per confederation were distributed as follows:
CAF (4)
AFC (4)
UEFA (12)
Concacaf (4)
OFC (1)
CONMEBOL (6)
Host country (1)
With this, only one team remains to be confirmed for the Club World Cup, which will come from the final of the Copa Libertadores between Fluminense and Boca Juniors, who will face each other on November 4 at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
For their part, and although they were eliminated in the playoffs, Inter Miami CF took the United States’ place as hosts after winning the MLS Supporters’ Shield, and will host the opening match at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, June 15.
