The Club World Cup is beginning to take shape after FIFA announced the date and place of the group draw on Monday, November 11. Through its official media, the institution confirmed that it will take place on Thursday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m. in Miami and will be broadcast live to the entire world.
The competition will be held in the United States between June 15 and July 13, 2025 and, at the moment, 31 teams have qualified. The last ticket will go to the winner of the Copa Libertadores final, which will be played by Brazilian teams Atlético Mineiro and Botafogo in Buenos Aires (Argentina) on Saturday, November 30.
In the new format of the competition, there will be a group stage, made up of 8 groups of 4 teams each, with each team playing three games and the best two teams from each group qualifying for the next stage. The knockout phase will then take place, divided into the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. The champion will have to play a total of seven matches to win the title and there will be no match for third place.
FC Barcelona has been left out of the first edition of the tournament due to its position in the UEFA rankings, as FIFA only allowed two teams per country to qualify and both Real Madrid (2nd) and Atlético de Madrid (10th) were above the Catalans (12th) in the standings. These are the 31 teams that have qualified so far:
UEFA
CONMEBOL
CONCACAF
AFC (Asia)
CAF (Africa)
The venues chosen by FIFA are Miami, Seattle, Los Angeles, Orlando, Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Washington DC, Philadelphia and New Jersey, and the twelve stadiums selected are:
