KATHMANDU: Nepal is set to face the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the ICC U-19 Women’s World Cup Asia Zone Qualifier today (Saturday).
Both teams are looking to secure their third consecutive win in the tournament, which kicks off at 11:15 AM Nepali time at The Sevens Stadium in Ajman, UAE.
Nepal and UAE are the only undefeated teams in the ongoing qualifiers. If Nepal wins today, they will climb to the top of the points table.
Currently, UAE leads with 4 points from two matches, while Nepal is in second place with the same number of points but a lower net run rate.
Thailand and Kuwait are in third and fourth place, respectively, both having lost their two matches.
Nepal remains unbeaten after defeating Thailand by 67 runs in their opening match and Kuwait by 108 runs in their second.
Similarly, UAE has also maintained its undefeated status, having won against Kuwait by 106 runs and Thailand by 74 runs.
Each team will play a total of six matches in the four-team qualifying tournament, which follows a double round-robin format.
The top-ranked team will qualify for the ICC U-19 World Cup in Malaysia in 2025.
The U-19 World Cup is scheduled to take place in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, 2025.
The top team from the Asian qualifiers will be placed in Group D alongside Australia, Bangladesh, and Scotland.
