BATON ROUGE La. (KALB) – The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) released the following statement on November 8.
“The Louisiana High School Athletic Association will delay the release of the 2024 postseason football brackets due to ongoing litigation with one of our member schools. This situation could affect all 307 schools that participate in football across the state. Given the possible repercussions of the decision made, the LHSAA will withhold all eight postseason brackets until the legal process is concluded and the matter is fully resolved. We appreciate the understanding of our member schools and fans as we work through this important issue.”
With the regular season soon ending, this delay has thrown a major wrench in the start of the football postseason.
It is not known whether playoff games will be played on Friday, November 15, and it is unclear how long litigation could take.
KALB has reached out to the LHSAA regarding the status of high school playoffs and will keep viewers informed as we learn more about the litigation and its effect on Louisiana high school football.
