The Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) has unveiled its 25-man training squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Oceania Qualifiers, set to take place in Port Moresby on November 17th.
The squad primarily consists of local players, with the addition of three overseas-based professionals: defender Alwin Komolong, midfielder Ethan Mom, and Werribee City FC striker Tommy Semmy.
Unfortunately, the squad will be without the services of Lae City FC’s star goalkeeper Ronald Warison, and PNG’s most-capped player, Gulf Komara FC midfielder Emmanuel Simon.
However, the PNG Kapuls training squad looks promising as the final squad is yet to be announced later.
Papua New Guinea will host Match Day 4 in Group A on Thursday, November 14, and Match Day 5 on Sunday, November 17 at PNG Football Stadium, while New Zealand will host Match Day 4 in Group B on Friday, November 15 and Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland will host Match Day 5 on Monday, November 18.
The winner of Group A will face the runner-up of Group B and the winner of Group B will face the runner-up of Group A in the semi-finals, on Friday, March 21, before the two winners meet in what shapes to be one of the biggest matches in OFC history on Monday, March 24, with the winner earning direct entry to the FIFA World Cup 26™.
