Texas A&M football enters Week 11 following its first conference loss after a disappointing performance against South Carolina. Despite the loss, the Aggies still control their own destiny with a real chance of making the College Football Playoff if they finish strong in the last month of the season.
But Mike Elko’s squad will need to overcome their first bump in the road in over two months to try and sustain its momentum through a much-needed break; the 14th-ranked Aggies (7-2, 5-1 SEC) are idle in Week 11 of the college football season.
A&M is coming off a 44-20 loss to the Gamecocks last week. Many believed this game was going to be a tough test for Texas A&M, and that turned out to be true as the Aggies struggled through tackling issues, and penalties, leading to 25 and seven, respectively.
Through the first nine games of the season, running back Le’Veon Moss has shown to be a true game-breaking talent for the Aggies offense, totaling 765 rushing yards on 121 carries, good for 6.3 yards per run, and 10 touchdowns. However, he suffered a season-ending leg injury against South Carolina, and the Aggies will now turn to junior running back Amari Daniels to carry the load in the running game.
Sophomore captain linebacker Taurean York has been a consistent presence in the middle of the Aggies’ defense, a true leader, and someone coach Elko has leaned on to help get the team ready to go each week and tallying 54 tackles while adding 1.5 sacks.
Here’s when the Aggies are set to return, including a look at their remaining schedule:
