For Lorain’s final season in the Lake Erie League, it ended with a bang on the gridiron.
As a result of its undefeated LEL championship season, Titans’ head coach James Boyeas and wide receiver Jairo Williams received the top honors in the LEL postseason awards.
It was announced on Lorain athletic’s team page, which named Williams the LEL Offensive Player of the Year and Boyeas the league’s coach of the year.
“I am excited and honored by (winning LEL Coach of the Year), but it is not just a me thing,” Boyeas said. “Everything that our coaching staff and our kids worked for was what contributed to our success. I guess I got a little bit of credit at the end, but it was a program thing.”
This was Boyeas’ first season as Lorain’s coach. The team went 9-2 (5-0 in LEL). Its league championship was solidified in a 34-32 win against Maple Heights, who also had the same opportunity.

Teammates Chase Davis, Ocir kimble, Isaiah Ray, Luke Wilson, Jay’l Diaz, and Ezra Williams were named first-team All-LEL. Other Titans to be awarded all-LEL honors were Amre Malone (second), Jaylen Moore (second-team), Jamiyus Gaines, Avery Martin (second), Joseph Gaines (second), Toriano Allen (third), Ray Smith (third), Lamar Miller (third) and Deonte Edwards (third).
Williams broke the program’s single-season record for touchdown receptions (14), receptions (48) and receiving yards (1,121).
“I can’t say enough about the year that Jairo had,” Boyeas said. “I am excited for him. He did a great job week after week. He played about a third of the season with a bummed ankle. That is something that I don’t think many people knew about.”
This was Lorain’s last season in the LEL, as it will join the GCC at the start of the 2025-26 school year.
The GCC was won by Mentor (11-0, 6-0 in GCC), and was followed with Strongsville (7-4, 5-1 in GCC). Cleveland Heights finished third with a 6-5 (4-2 in GCC) record.
“The GCC is going to be a whole new animal,” Boyeas said. “I think that is going to be a huge challenge. I am happy that we have an offseason to try and prepare for, because it is going to be a gauntlet every week.”
The fall sports teams followed suit with several players earning All-LEL honors, girls soccer, volleyball, boys and girls cross country teams won their league titles as well.
