"Rohit Sharma will retire from Test cricket": 1983 World Cup winning star – Crictoday

Rohit Sharma is facing heat after India lost to New Zealand in the Test series. India failed to win a game in the three-match series, with the Kiwis becoming the first team in the format’s history to register victory in three consecutive Tests in the Asian country.
The 37-year-old India player fared poorly with the bat and as a captain. Rohit retired from T20Is after leading the Men in Blue to success in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, he hasn’t been able to get going in red-ball cricket and scored just 91 runs in three Tests against New Zealand.
Former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth said that Rohit will retire from Test cricket if he fails in Australia.
“We will have to think about the future, and I feel if Rohit Sharma doesn’t do well in Australia, he will retire from the red-ball format. He will play in ODIs. He has already retired from T20Is. We have to keep in mind that he is not getting younger,” he said.
Srikkanth also praised Rohit for accepting his mistakes. “Rohit had the guts and accepted his mistakes. That’s a big thing to do. Accepting your fault is important. That is a quality of big players. He is on the road to recovery, in my opinion.”
