BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – The IMG Academy varsity White football team is the defending Sunshine SATE Independent Association state champions. This season Coach Jeff Pond, the staff, and the IMG White football team is getting ready to take their talents across the globe.
“Over in Dublin, Ireland, we were able to go over there with the Florida State Georgia Tech game. We beat a good, solid team from Dallas over there and now we are six and three toward the end of the year headed to the SSIA playoffs, and we are getting ready to leave on Tuesday to go to Munich, Germany to play the NFL Academy over there,” Jeff Pond said.
According to IMG White head football coach this year’s team includes a lot of highly skilled players who also have high character and high grade point averages. The coaching staff believes these student-athletes can play football at major division one programs as well as Ivy League schools.
After several months of working out the players at IMG have meshed together with a common goal to winning.
“Man we get after it because we put the work in every other day. Since summer we have been here grinding, working, lifting, practicing, bonding as a team. Just come out here, we know what the goal is, just come out here, we know what the common goal is at the end of the season, Win a championship,” Stephen Hennon said.
