VIDEO | Jordan Stolz to be the face of 2025 ISU World Cup in Milwaukee, Wi – washingtoncountyinsider.com

“The Pettit Center has always been interested in hosting World Cup level competitions and with Jordan Stolz being a recent world champion the last two years, it became more of a commonsense issue for us,” said Paul Golomski general manager at the Pettit National Ice Center.

“We want to showcase to the entire community and this region what can happen when athletes work as hard as Jordan’s worked. He’s one of many stories of local athletes that have gone on to become Olympians and World Cup athletes and we really want to grow the sport of speedskating in Milwaukee.”
Golomski said the ISU is very much keeping an eye on Stolz because of his youth and rapid rise to the top. “The ISU thinks very highly of what Jordan has done for the sport, he’s really pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in speedskating and the sport needs to continue to grow; he’s going faster than anyone ever has… he’s easily the face of the World Cup,” he said.

Over the weekend Stolz skated in the 500 meter, 1000 meter, and 1500 meter races. He clocked in the fastest times ahead of the competition. For a 20-year-old he realizes people are paying attention to his accomplishments, but he throws credit back to Golomski for the reason the World Cup is coming to Milwaukee.
“The ice here the way Paul makes it is just better than all the other rinks,” said Stolz. “He’s got it perfect.”
While the ice may be gold standard, Stolz is the face of the 2025 World Cup. He said he hopes to rally more enthusiasm for the sport.
“I hope I can bring in some spectators and bring more attention to skating, especially here.”
Tickets for the 2025 World Cup are on sale now for $30 a session. There will be three days of competition and top skaters from around the world will participate.
“This will be Olympic-level competition at the World Cup in 2025,” said Golomski. “Almost all the Olympians from the 2022 games – we’ll have between 200 and 250 of the best speedskaters in the world here and the Olympic games cost significantly more than spending $30 a ticket to see it in your own backyard.”
Over the weekend the Pettit hosted the Long Track Championships and Stolz notched a season best in the 500 meter with a time of 34,47. In the 1000m he took first with a 1:07,67 and he recorded another season best in the 1500m with a time of 1:43,43.

On Sunday he competed in a pair of 16-lap mass starts. The first race he finished 4th out of 13 and in the final mass start he finished 1st out of 13.

Stolz finished ahead of Ning who crossed in 1.44,79.

Stolz finished in second place in World Cup points in the 1500m behind Ning.
In the 500 meter against Yudai Yamamoto of Japan, Stolz was extremely powerful from the starting gun and crossed the finish in a blur of 34.51. Yamamoto finished in 35.41. Stolz secured the gold for the second week in a row.
