Women’s Soccer Falls to Tennessee in SEC Tournament – UKAthletics

PENSACOLA, Fla. – No. 8-seed Kentucky women’s soccer (11-4-4, 3-3-4) fell to No. 9-seed Tennessee (9-5-4, 3-4-3) 0-1 in the first round of the 2024 Southeastern Conference tournament on Sunday.
The Wildcats outshot the Volunteers 15-5 with five shots on target to Tennessee’s three. Kentucky forced Tennessee into five saves and two yellow cards in the match.
Tennessee struck through Sammi Woods in the 15th minute which proved to be the deciding goal despite Kentucky’s offensive attempts. Wildcats’ goalkeeper Marz Josephson kept the scoreline tight after making a penalty save in the 72nd minute. Kentucky, unfortunately, could not capitalize on the rallying moment to find an equalizer.
Kentucky will now turn its eyes to the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats will learn their postseason fate during the NCAA Selection Show scheduled for Monday, November 11th at 4 p.m. ET.
