The Steeler beat New York Giants 26-18 during Monday night’s game at Acrisure Stadium.
Calvin Austin III returned a punt for a touchdown during the third quarter of the game and hauled in a lob by Russell Wilson, later adding a 29-yard over-the-shoulder grab from Wilson in the fourth quarter, helping the Steelers secure a one-game lead over Baltimore in the AFC North.
Austin finished with three receptions for 54 yards, with Wilson completing 20 of 28 passes for 278 yards and the score to Austin, though his fumble with 4:42 remaining briefly opened the door for the Giants.
Along with Austin, Najee Harris ran for 114 yards, topping 100 for a third straight game for the first time in his career, with Chris Boswell kicking four field goals to bail out an offense that bogged down regularly in New York territory.
Giants rookie Tyrone Tracy ran for a season-high 145 yards, including a 45-yard sprint early in the fourth quarter that pulled New York (2-5) within eight.
Jones, benched in the fourth quarter of a blowout loss to Philadelphia last week, completed 24 of 38 passes for 264 yards and the late pick. Darius Slayton finished with four receptions for 108 yards and Nabers caught seven passes for 72 yards. Greg Joseph booted four field goals for the Giants, who were undone by 11 penalties for 65 yards and a defense that let the suddenly potent Wilson-led Steelers offense pile up 426 yards.
Austin’s return for a score, the first by a Steeler since 2019, gave Pittsburgh a jolt following a first half filled with missed opportunities. The Steelers had a pair of apparent touchdown passes from Wilson to George Pickens nullified.
A facemask penalty on right tackle Broderick Jones wiped out the first. Video-assisted replay overturned the second, a leaping grab in the back of the end zone in which Pickens got his right foot down — twice — but couldn’t add the left before getting pushed out Giants cornerback Deonte Banks.

From inside and outside Acrisure Stadium to talking game day at Rivers Casino and on the Gateway Clipper, our team was spread out across the city as fans prepared for the big matchup Monday night.
Fans were asked to wear their black jerseys or black team attire to support the Steelers, who took the field in their special “Color Rush” uniforms.
The Steelers have never lost a Monday Night Football game at Acrisure, now winning 22 Monday night games in a row.
The last time the team lost a Monday night home game was nine years before Acrisure Stadium/Heinz Field was built — coincidentally against the Giants at Three Rivers Stadium in 1991.
Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 reporter Ashley Liotus has Russell Wilson’s first sit-down interview since the quarterback suited up in black and gold.
“Man, I love the yinzers. They’re fun. I just, I think the best part is — obviously this city is full of black and gold everywhere. I think that’s the best part about it. The connectivity between football, baseball and hockey — all of that all together as one. Obviously, coach Tomlin is amazing how he runs things. This organization with Mr. Rooney — it’s a really special place,” Wilson said.

The Irish singing group Celtic Thunder was in Pittsburgh to sing the National Anthem for Monday Night Football. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 talked to the group who say they are Steelers fan and the excitement over the team potentially heading to Ireland.

The fourth-year pro RB Najee Harris and the offensive line in front of him are both starting to gain some traction in the running game. Harris has topped 100 yards in each of Pittsburgh’s past two games — the second time in his career that he’s gone over 100 yards in consecutive weeks. If Wilson can build off his 264-yard performance in his Pittsburgh debut last Sunday against the Jets, the running lanes only figure to get wider for Harris.
The two-time Pro Bowler DT Dexter Lawrence leads the NFL with a career-high nine sacks. It’s the highest total by a Giants player in the first seven games since pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan had 12 1/2 in 2001. The 2019 first-round pick has six sacks in the past three games, the first Giants defender to do that since Jason Pierre-Paul from Nov. 30-Dec. 14, 2014.
