WILLIAMSTON, Mich. (WILX) – Williamston’s boys soccer team moved on to the Division 3 state semifinals with a heart-stopping 2-1 victory Thursday over Ann Arbor Greenhills to win the regional title. The game was tied 1-1 after regulation, and neither team could score in two overtimes. So the game went to a shootout, with Shelton Schuesler and Max Kuehne scoring big goals to give the Hornets a 3-1 shootout advantage.
Williamston goalkeeper Garrett Stenzel made a sliding save on the last kick by Greenhills to clinch the shootout win and put Williamston in the semifinals at 6pm Wednesday, Oct. 30, against the winner of Friday’s regional final between Pontiac Notre Dame Prep and Flint Powers Catholic.
