Women’s Soccer Matt Taylor – Director of Athletic Communications
HOUGHTON, Mich. – It’s the final home weekend of the regular season for the Michigan Tech soccer team set to play Purdue Northwest on Friday at 5 p.m. and Roosevelt on Sunday at noon for Senior Day.
Seniors Molly Bolang, Emilie Clayton, Jordan Noble, Taylor Noble, Julia Pietila and Ella Roach will be honored following Sunday’s contest.

About the Pride
Purdue Northwest has seen success under third-year head coach Mary Whisler, currently residing ninth in the Midwest region with an overall record of 6-1-5 and 3-1-4 in the GLIAC.
The Pride have scored 15 goals this season, averaging 11.1 shots per game and 1.25 goals per game. Senior forward Amaris Gonzalez paces the offense with four goals and an assist. Emma Carter joins her with multiple goals this season, netting two scores to go with two assists. Garcia Yoselin is tied for second in the GLIAC with five assists with Addison Thomas adding four assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Meta Fischer has faced 103 shots, recording 42 saves with an overall record of 5-1-4 and five shutouts. She averages 4.2 saves per game with a save percentage of .857.
The Pride won the first meeting against the Huskies in Hammond, Indiana, 2-1 on Sept. 27.
About the Lakers
Roosevelt travels to the U.P. on a three-game losing skid with an overall record of 0-8-4 and 0-7-2 in the loop.
The Lakers recorded back-to-back scoreless draws in GLIAC play against Parkside (Oct. 4) and Purdue Northwest (Oct. 11) before dropping the last three matches. Despite the losses, Roosevelt has scored goals in two of the three contests to double their league goal total. Daisy Hernandez-Loya scored in the 3-1 loss at Davenport (Oct. 13), while Aaliyah Leanos got the tally in the first half of the 3-1 loss to Parkside (Oct. 20).
Senior midfielder Macias Paola leads the Lakers’ offense with two goals and an assist, with a team-leading 10 shots on goal this season.
Junior goalkeeper Roxy Herrera has started all 12 games this season for the Lakers with a save percentage of .721, facing 250 shots with 80 saves, which ranks first in the GLIAC and 25th in the land.
Michigan Tech won the first meeting of the season, 6-0 in Arlington Heights on Sept. 29.
About the Huskies
With five games to play in the regular season, Michigan Tech holds an overall record of 4-8 and 2-7 in the loop.
The Huskies are producing 13.3 shots per game and 1.08 goals per game and almost twice the amount of corner kicks as the opposition (68-36). The Black & Gold average 5.67 corner kicks an outing, ranking second in the league and top 50 nationally.
Senior forward Julia Pietila ranks third in the GLIAC with 13 points, coming from a team-leading six goals and one assist. Her six scores and two game-winners rank second in the league.
Goalkeeper Bri Barrows has started 11 games for MTU this season with a save percentage of .772, facing 90 shots while recording 44 saves. She’s combined for three shutouts and holds a 4-7 record.
One Last Thing
The Huskies saw its highest-scoring outing in three seasons in the first meeting against first-year GLIAC affiliate Roosevelt with a 6-0 victory. Five players netted goals in the win, led by Pietila recording two goals and an assist. Kiersen Korienek, Brooke Green, Taylor Noble and Molly Bolang scored in the win.
