HBO is taking a deep dive into the U.S. men’s national soccer team as it prepares to host the 2026 World Cup.
The premium cable outlet is in production on a documentary series that will follow the team in its run-up to the global event, which the United States will jointly host with Canada and Mexico. HBO Sports Documentaries and Park Stories are producing the series in association with the U.S. Soccer Federation and the U.S. National Soccer Team Players Association.
The series will continue production over the next two years and will air in 2026. The World Cup is set to kick off on June 11, 2026 and will feature 48 nations, the largest field in the tournament’s history.

HBO promises an “unprecedented” look into the team’s preparations for the World Cup, following the team from the 2022 tournament in Qatar (where the USMNT made the round of 16), through the hiring of new manager Mauricio Pochettino and the team’s preparation for 2026. As one of the host nations, the U.S. doesn’t have to go through qualifying.
HBO Sports is no stranger to docuseries following teams and athletes for long periods of time: Its NFL series Hard Knocks is an annual staple, and back when it aired boxing, HBO produced several 24/7 series following fighters in the weeks leading up to a bout. Park Stories has produced numerous short documentaries about athletes, including the USMNT’s Tyler Adams.
