Winner plays: Winner of 14-Chartiers Valley (9-8)/3-Mars (13-1-4) Monday in semifinals
Corner kicks: Franklin Regional moved into the quarterfinals with a 3-0 victory over No. 10 Trinity as Danny Christafano had two goals and Tyler Pipon added one. Fabrizzio Costa, Jovan Sankoorikal and Joey Bayne had assists, while goalie Noah Walker saved a penalty kick to preserve the shutout. The Panthers are seeking their sixth semifinal appearance in seven seasons. … Thomas Jefferson had no problems with Armstrong in the first round in an 8-0 victory at home. Jake Shoemaker scored two goals as the Jaguars ran their unbeaten streak to 17 games. The Jaguars lost to Hampton last year in the quarterfinals.

Corner kicks: Bethel Park, which finished second to No. 2 seed Thomas Jefferson in Section 2, rallied past No. 12 Montour, 3-2. Xavier Jackson scored had two goals and had an assist for the Black Hawks, who were upset in the first round by No. 13 Indiana in last year’s tournament. … Latrobe registered the first playoff win in its 40th season of soccer, shutting out No. 13 Ringgold, 2-0. Warren Agostoni and Roman Agostoni had a goal apiece and Reece DiCasolo made four saves for the shutout. The win was the 13th for Latrobe, a program single-season record.

Corner kicks: Greensburg Central Catholic pulled a first-round stunner, going on the road to upset No. 5 Aquinas Academy in overtime, 2-1, at Mars. Niko Miller scored the first goal and Jackson Vacanti netted the game-winner in extra time. Both players also had an assist. Isaac House made 11 saves in goal for the Centurions. … Tyler Guevara had two goals and Robert McMahan and Michael Lanigan had assists as Beaver County Christian recorded a shutout in the first round, 2-0 over Riverview. The Section 1 champions are riding an eight-game winning streak.
