Toronto looking for artist to design FIFA World Cup 2026 poster – NOW Toronto

Toronto is looking for a local artist to create a poster for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with six matches set to be hosted right here in the city.
Artists who wish to apply must be 18 or older as of Oct. 16 and be residents of Toronto. 
The city is calling on eligible creators to express their interest by completing a virtual submission form by the Oct. 29, 11:59 p.m. deadline. Submissions must include a biography of 250 words or less, along with 10 examples of past work. These samples cannot contain images of any identifiable people.
Those interested can apply as a professional artist representing a business or as a non-business professional artist. During the application stage, artists are asked not to submit an artwork proposal.

Once applications are received, a panel will select up to five semi-finalists, who will be contacted during the week of Nov. 25. Chosen artists will be invited to create a poster design proposal based on specifics provided to them in a brief, and will each be given a $2,000 stipend “to fuel their creativity.”
Once poster proposals are received, they will be shared with FIFAwho will select a panel to choose one of the designs as the official FIFA World Cup 26 Toronto poster. The winning poster will be showcased publicly in the run-up to the games and during the tournament. The artist behind the poster will receive $8,000.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set for June 11 to July 19, 2026, with city officials calling the upcoming games the largest sporting event of all time, hosted across 16 cities in three countries, with 48 teams competing in 104 matches. 

“With more countries, cities, teams and matches, FIFA World Cup 26™ will be the most inclusive tournament ever, engaging millions of fans across 16 unique stadiums and billions worldwide,” reads a release from the city.
