Mont Belvieu celebrates grand opening of new soccer complex – Bluebonnet News

The City of Mont Belvieu marked a significant milestone on Saturday, April 13, with the official ribbon cutting ceremony to inaugurate the Mont Belvieu soccer complex. It was announced at the ceremony that the name will be “Crumpler Fields Soccer Complex.”
The decision was made to honor the Crumpler family who has long supported sports and recreation in Mont Belvieu – A plot of Crumpler family land deeded for ball fields still exists in the area near FM 565 and SH 146; the city’s original site before relocating in the mid-1980s. Joe Crumpler, lifelong Mont Belvieu resident and current Chairman of the Chambers County Appraisal District, was in attendance at the ribbon cutting on Saturday.
Located at 4400 Perry Ave. behind Barbers Hill Elementary School, the newly established complex boasts an impressive array of amenities, including six full-sized soccer fields. Several of these fields have the flexibility to be reconfigured into smaller spaces, catering to the needs of younger players. Additionally, the complex encompasses two dual-purpose fields that can seamlessly transition for use in youth football activities.
The realization of this $5 million complex can be attributed to the collaboration of various stakeholders. While the City of Mont Belvieu spearheaded the construction, investing $3.5 million in the project, Chambers County played a pivotal role by contributing $1.4 million specifically for the installation of lighting.
Barbers Hill Independent School District (ISD) solidified its commitment by engaging in a long-term lease agreement with the City, allocating 17.8 acres of land for the complex at a nominal fee of $1 per year.
Among the attendees were Mont Belvieu Mayor Joey McWilliams, City Manager Brian Winningham, BHISD Superintendent Dr. Greg Poole, Chambers County Commissioner (Pct. 3) Tommy Hammond, Mont Belvieu Parks & Recreation Director Dustin Schubert and officials from Barbers Hill Youth Soccer organization.
