LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — One of the victims in a double shooting outside a football game at Pleasure Ridge Park High School has died.

The double shooting happened on Sept. 29 at a rescheduled football game between PRP and Male High Schools. Two juveniles were shot.
One victim was found at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds and was subsequently rushed to UofL Hospital in critical condition. The young man’s family told WDRB News that he is 17 years old.
Will Pitts is an anti-violence activist, and the cousin of the victim.
“You know, I love my community, but I don’t love a lot of the things that go on within the community,” Pitts said.
Louisville Metro Police spokesman John Bradley said in a statement that the victim that died early Tuesday was a juvenile male that was in critical condition at UofL Health Hospital downtown since the night of the shooting.
Pitt’s did not identify his cousin, wishing to protect his family’s privacy. But he said this situation should be a reminder for Louisville.
“It should speak volumes to the community that we have an issue, and that issue is guns,” Pitts said. “It always tells me I have more work to do and the fight’s not done, and I need to do more.”
His message to the community is that youth gun violence is a problem that won’t just go away, and it will take more than just him and a few others to find and provide ways to keep young people away from violence.
“Don’t give these kids, you know, more ammo, no pun intended,” Pitts said.
No additional information or condition has been updated on the second juvenile shot that night. He showed up at UofL Health – Mary and Elizabeth Hospital the night of the shooting, but his injuries weren’t believed to be life-threatening.
Bradley said LMPD’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate, but no arrests have been made.
Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact the LMPD tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). Callers can remain anonymous.
