WPIAL / High School Boys Soccer Standings and Playoff Seeding Projections (10/6/2024)

Class 4A – Section 3 – North Allegheny at Seneca Valley – North Allegheny has been impressive this season in Section 3 and with a win on Tuesday against Seneca Valley, they can take a big step toward a Section title.  The Tigers’ (12-2-1, 7-1 in Section) win streak extended to eight games last week when they avenged its only section loss to Pine-Richland with a 3-1 win against the Rams then followed it up with a 5-0 defeat of Butler, as senior Noah Hutter led the attack, scoring in each match.  At one point, Seneca Valley were 2-3 in section, sitting in a tie for fourth place, but have turned things up a notch, with two impressive wins over Fox Chapel (5-1) and Pine-Richland (6-0) last week, with Tyler Prex leading the way, scoring four goals against a very good Fox Chapel side.
In the first match-up this season, North Allegheny outlasted Seneca Valley, 4-2.  The Tigers trailed the Raiders, 1-0 at the half, but stormed back with a four-goal second half, as Zach Nash scored  game-winner in the 69th minute.  Nathan Katari added a brace and Caleb Rumberger closed out the scoring for the Tigers in that match.  Prior to its loss to North Allegheny, Seneca Valley had dominated the series between the giant Northern suburban schools, winning 11 straight matches dating back to 2018.
Class 2A – Section 2 – Central Valley vs Avonworth – The standings in Section 2 are extremely tight at the top, so the winner of this match will get a leg up to get the top spot with a week to go in the regular season.
Match Day 16. We travel to Avonworth this evening with section title and playoff seeding implications on the line! Everything to play for! Come on boys! ⚽️@TribLiveHSSN @pghsoccernow@PGSportsNow @bctimes @wpialsoccerboys @JohnKrysinsky pic.twitter.com/SswC3FkKKc

Central Valley (13-2-0, 11-2-0 in section) handed Avonworth (12-2-2, 12-1-1 in section) its only loss of the season in Section competition back in September, but has since dropped to third place with close losses to Quaker Valley and Hopewell.  Avonworth currently holds the edge in head-to-head vs second place Quaker Valley, having won 3-0 and drawn 0-0 with the Quakers in their series, so a win on Tuesday, and the ‘Lopes should be in good shape to secure at least a share of the Section title.
