FIFA finally announce stadiums hosting Club World Cup – Bavarian Football Works

Filed under:
One task completed, about a dozen more to go…
Ever since the FIFA Club World Cup was announced, it has struggled to get its ships in order and confirm that the basic requirements of a tournament are being fulfilled.
For a tournament filled with some of the biggest clubs in the world such as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund or Juventus, it is surprising to see how little has been accomplished despite, at the time of writing, the tournament beginning in eight months time. It has struggled to get sponsorship contracts, broadcast deals, justify holding a club tournament between June and July, figure out the logistics of said timing of the tournament and confirm the location of the tournament, let alone the stadiums that will host it.
But hey, at least that last one is now finally done. Yes, FIFA finally decided which regions in America the tournament will be held and even released a list of stadiums that will host the tournament.
The host stadiums are the following: The MetLife Stadium (New York New Jersey), Mercedes-Benz Stadium (Atlanta), Bank of America Stadium (Charlotte), TQL Stadium (Cincinnati), Rose Bowl Stadium (Los Angeles), Hard Rock Stadium (Miami), GEODIS Park (Nashville), Camping World Stadium (Orlando), Inter&Co Stadium (Orlando), Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia), Lumen Field (Seattle), and Audi Field (Washington, D.C.).
One of the hold ups for confirming the stadiums was the worry that the Seattle Sounders, participants in the inaugural Club World Cup, would be allowed to have a home game in the Lumen Field with a capacity of over 68,000 fans cheering them and granting them an unfair advantage. But…as one can see from the above listed stadiums, it seems the decision makers at FIFA just decided to let that advantage stand.
Now that finding and confirming the host stadiums are out of the way, one of the biggest-and most basic- hurdles FIFA had to clear has been overcome. Now they have to do everything else…
