A youth football game in Saugus was canceled after a fight broke out in the stands.
Saugus Police responded to a 911 call Sunday morning, after the caller reported a fight involving five to six people was taking place in the stands at the Saugus Stadium.
Eyewitnesses said the fight was triggered by an argument between a Saugus and Salem parent.
According to police, one woman was injured and was treated at Saugus Stadium and was not brought to the hospital.
The game was then canceled and the Saugus Youth Football and Cheer later released a statement apologizing to the athletes and their families.
“It is in moments like this that we can reflect on our purpose as guardians and mentors and take the time to teach our children that the actions of today are not the norm and negatively effects everyone involved,” the statement read.
Police said those involved in the fight fled the scene and no arrests were made.
The cause of the argument and fight remains unknown.
