The historic stadium will welcome stars from the other football when Brazil and Mexico’s men’s national soccer teams face off in a friendly on June 8. The match will seek to break an attendance record for a friendly. Kyle Field’s stadium capacity is 102,733 after a $485 million renovation project ahead of the 2015 college football season.
It’s unclear if stars like Neymar or Chicharito will play in the match. The Brazilian icon underwent knee surgery in October to repair a torn ACL. The leading Mexican scorer has not played for El Tri since 2019 and missed the 2022 World Cup. Last month, he made an emotional return to Chivas, the Liga MX club where he started his career.
Brazil and Mexico’s soccer rivalry was ignited back in the 1970 World Cup when Pele and the Seleção won the tournament at Mexico’s Estadio Azteca.
