‘Out of the Box’ with Dallas Huston: 2024 Lions Football Schedule – Brownwood News

July 15, 2024
I heard on the radio the other day about people being excited for the 2024 Brownwood Lion football schedule and wanting to see it and hear all about it and everything. It is an interesting schedule with Marble Falls, Stephenville, Burnet, and Lampasas. That’s our District.
We play in Lampasas. We play Burnet here, Stephenville away, and Marble Falls here. That’s the District schedule. By the way, Stephenville is pre-season ranked number one in the State and we’re pre-season number seven.
Anyway, what’s really fascinating to me is the non-district schedule. It is most interesting because it concludes non-district wise with Ingleside from down around Corpus Christi. They decided to play and they’re going to play at a neutral site in Boerne. Now, prior to that there’s China Spring that is two years removed from back to back State Championships. There’s Waco La Vega, one of the stronger teams in Texas. There’s Glen Rose, a team that came within an inch of making it to the “big dance” in Arlington last year. Now, you’ve got – what’s this – Wall? Wall? It’s a 3A team playing 4A Brownwood, but Wall is a bugger bear. They long since have been year in and year out and we get to play them – in Wall. Of course, there’s Abilene Wylie and we open up against them in Brownwood. It’s really an outstanding, outstanding, non-district schedule.
The one I’m most interested in comes your way, and my way, in August. On August 16, it’s the opening of our scrimmage schedule and we’re going to scrimmage Alvarado second, but at 6:00 on the 16th of August, we’re going to scrimmage Argyle Liberty Christian at home. They won State last year in private school. They are coached by Jason Witten. Sound familiar? It should. All Pro Dallas Cowboy Jason Witten is the Head Coach at Argyle Liberty Christian. They’re a good football team and I can’t wait to see it. I can’t wait to see Jason Whitten! That’s exciting!
So they’ve got Argyle and Alvarado in scrimmages and non-district games against Wylie, Wall, Glen Rose, Waco La Vega, China Spring and Ingleside. Then they play Lampasas in Lampasas. We have an open date and then Burnet in Brownwood, Stephenville in Stephenville and Marble Falls in Brownwood. Opponent number eleven – I can’t wait to get there!
Until next time, so long everybody.
