There will be no slowing down from the Premier League over the Christmas and New Year period as the football action is stacked up higher than Santa’s naughty and nice list.
Boxing Day matches are a long-standing tradition within UK football and there were five Premier League games on the schedule for December 26, 2023.
However, as the Premier League aims to balance matchdays throughout the coming weeks, there will only be one day (December 29) without a top-flight game from December 26 to January 2. After that, the league takes a two-week break, although the teams will all be involved in FA Cup third-round action during that time.
This year will also saw the return of Christmas Eve football, with Wolves hosting Chelsea in the first English top-division game on December 24 in 28 years. The previous day also had plenty of games in the same week that the Carabao Cup quarterfinals were held.
