Gino Segura scored two goals, including the game-winning on a free kick, to lead the South Torrance boys soccer team to a 2-1 win over San Juan Hills in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs Wednesday.
South (17-0-4) will be on the road in Friday’s second-round against Crossroads at 6 p.m.
Also in the CIF-SS playoffs Wednesday:
PALOS VERDES 2, LOS ALAMITOS 1: Matt Yoon scored the winning goal for the Sea Kings (11-9-2) in their Division 1 victory at Los Alamitos.
Oli Knotek scored the first goal for the Sea Kings and assisted on Yoon’s goal.
Palos Verdes will host Canyon in the second round Friday at 3 p.m.
REDONDO 1, MONTEBELLO 0: Isaac Barajas scored for the Sea Hawks (12-7-2) in their first-round win in Division 2.
Redondo will host San Gorgonio in a second-round game Friday at 4 p.m.
ANIMO LEADERSHIP 3, CHAMINADE 1: Daniel Arreola, Brian Rodriguez and Jeferson Umana scored for the Aztec Eagles (20-1-1), who are the top-seeded team in Division 3.
Animo will be on the road for a second-round game against Santa Barbara on Friday at 5 p.m.
EL SEGUNDO 1, EL RANCHO 0: Liam Moore scored the winner for the Eagles (14-5-2) in their Division 3 first-round win at home.
The Eagles will be at Salesian in the second round Friday at 4 p.m.
WISEBURN DA VINCI 3, SANTA PAULA 2: Nolan Tinsley, David Manzanarez and Leo Millot scored for the Wolves (14-8-1) in their Division 4 first-round win.
Wiseburn will host Santiago in a second-round game Friday at 5 p.m.
LEUZINGER 2, NOTRE DAME/SO 2 (Leuzinger wins on PKs 8-7): The Olympians (12-6-2) advanced to the second round in Division 5 with their win in penalty kicks.
The Olympians will be at St. Margaret’s in the second round Friday at 5 p.m.
MIRA COSTA 1, ALISO NIGUEL 0: The Mustangs (23-1-3) will take a one-goal advantage into Friday’s second game of the Open Division two-game series. Marco Bottene scored a first-half goal in Wednesday’s win.
Grant Gilmer had the assist and Evan Hansen recorded seven saves to preserve the shutout.
The Open Division series shifts to Mira Costa for a game Friday at 5 p.m.
BOYS BASKETBALL
The second round of the CIF-SS boys basketball playoffs are Friday. Games start at 7 p.m.
The City Section playoffs also continue Friday night.
