First match of Kyrgyzstan in World Cup qualifier round 3 against Iran to take place in Azadi Stadium – AKIpress

AKIPRESS.COM – On September 5, Kyrgyzstan national football team begins qualification for 2026 World Cup in the third round of the qualifier.
The Kyrgyz footballers are in Group A together with national teams of Iran, Qatar, Uzbekistan, UAE and DPRK.
In the first round on September 5, Kyrgyz head coach Maksim Lisitsyn’s team will play against Iran. The match will take place in the Azadi Stadium in Tehran with  78,116 seats.
The Kyrgyz national team has already played twice at Azadi Stadium against the Iranians: in 1997 (1-3) and in 2016 (0-6). In total, the national teams of Iran and Kyrgyzstan have held 4 matches. All of them ended with Iran’s victory with a combined score of 2:21.
