The Indian cricket team secured a historic win in the T20 World Cup 2024 where they became the first team to capture the title without losing a single match.
In return, they were handsomely rewarded by the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI), who awarded them with a 125 Crore cheque during the felicitation ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah initially made the announcement on X (formerly twitter), stating, “I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement!’

The prize money of 125 Crores will be distributed among the 15-player squad, the four reserve players, and an estimated 15-member support staff.
Each player from the 15-member squad and head coach Rahul Dravid, will receive 5 crores each, including those who did not get a single game in the T20 World Cup 2024.
Similarly, the four reserve players – Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan, will be rewarded with 1 crore each.
The core support staff that includes batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach T Dilip, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, will be rewarded with 2.5 crores each.

The rest of the backroom support staff have not been left out either. The three physiotherapists (Kamlesh Jain, Yogesh Parmar and Thulasi Ram Yuvraj), three throwdown specialists (Raghavindraa Dvgi, Nuwan Udeneke and Dayanand Garani), two masseurs (Rajeev Kumar and Arun Kanade) and the strength & conditioning coach (Soham Desai) will receive Rs 2 crore each.
The five members of the selection committee including former India cricketer Ajit Agarkar, will also be awarded 1 crore each.
A total of 42 members travelled as a part of the Indian contingent to the Caribbean and the USA, that also included a logistics manager, video analyst, and security and integrity officer. They will also be rewarded, according to reports.
According to Indian Express, a BCCI source said: “Players and support staff have been informed about the amount of prize money they will be receiving from the BCCI, and we have asked everyone to submit an invoice”
