England have managed to survive to this point largely thanks to the lower-tier skill level of their opposition. Here, that no longer applies, and unless things drastically change for the Three Lions, they will finally suffer a deserved early exit.
Gareth Southgate’s stubbornness has resulted in a lack of needed changes for England, and there’s no indication that he’ll finally see the light at this stage. Turkey are not to be overlooked, but the Dutch should manage to find enough goals to see this one out. Turkey have not had a clean sheet in any Euro 2024 game thus far, conceding a goal each in of their victories over Georgia, Czechia and Austria, plus a 3-0 thumping at the hands of Portugal.
In truth, Turkey were lucky to get out of the opener against Georgia with all three points on the back of two glittering goals, and they were well beaten by Portugal. The Dutch can turn on the jets when needed, scoring at least two goals in every game save a drab 0-0 draw against France in which neither side looked truly motivated to attack.
