Pakistan men’s cricket team has been undergoing rigorous training session in the lead up to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 that will get underway in less than two months. 29 players  have been called up by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to take part in a fitness camp at Abbottabad’s Army School of Physical Training (ASPT) in Kakul.
Naseem Shah, the young Pakistan pacer, who was unfortunate to have missed the 2023 World Cup, is among the players grinding it out in Kakul.
He has caught the attention of many with his bravado and unrelenting determination in training sessions. It must have been an excruciatingly big blow for Naseem when he was injured ahead of the ODI World Cup last year but he seems to have put those woes past him with his focus on being in top shape ahead of the T20 World Cup.

The PCB recently provided fans with an inside look at the squad’s intense physical routines. Amid the sparkling array of cricketing superstars such as Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan, it was Naseem who stole the limelight.
Clips being widely circulated on social media show Naseem taking on the army-style workouts with enthusiasm. He can be seen scaling nets, clearing hurdles and sprinting with tenacity.

Meanwhile, Babar has been reappointed as the captain of the ODI and T20I teams by the PCB. The batting superstar had stepped down from the role in the aftermath of Pakistan’s group-stage exit at the World Cup held in India last year.
The PCB has been successful in convincing him for a second stint at captaincy. His return comes at the expense of Shaheen Afridi’s who has been removed as the T20I skipper.
Shaheen had led Pakistan in five T20Is against New Zealand in January, but lost by a 4-1 margin. The former world champions will host New Zealand for five T20Is later this month, before flying to the UK to face England in four T20Is.
