On Sunday afternoon, FIFA announced that Philadelphia will play host to six matches during FIFA World Cup 2026 highlighted by a Round of 16 contest on July 4th.
Philadelphia will host five group stage matches with the first match being Match No. 9 on Sunday, June 14th followed five days later by Match No. 29 on Friday, June 19th. The other side of the weekend will see more action in Philly with a game on Monday, June 22nd as well as final group stage contests on Thursday, June 25th and Saturday June 27th. The knockout action comes to Philadelphia on Saturday, July 4th as the United States celebrates its semiquincentennial.
Azteca Stadium in Mexico City will play host to the opening match of the 2026 edition on June 11th which will feature Mexico’s opening group stage match. The United States Men’s National Team will open their 2026 journey in Los Angeles on June 12th with their other two group stage matches taking place in Seattle and then back in LA for the finale. Toronto will open Canada’s first ever FIFA World Cup game with the Canadian National Team featured on June 12th. 
The locations for the tournament’s 104 games were announced on June 16, 2022 with the City of Brotherly Love selected as one of 11 Host City spots in the United States. With a robust and compelling bid put forth by Philadelphia Soccer 2026 and its key partners over the past five years, FIFA awarded Host City status to Philadelphia and the following U.S. cities: Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle.
2026 will also see five cities in Canada and Mexico host matches with Toronto, Vancouver, Guadalajara, Mexico City and Monterrey.
