Chase Loftin commits to Florida State – Omaha World-Herald

One of the state’s top 2025 tight end prospects on Saturday announced his commitment to ACC champion Florida State.
Chase Loftin, who caught 73 passes and 11 touchdowns at Elkhorn North before transferring this offseason to Millard South, picked the Seminoles over Missouri, Texas A&M and Nebraska after taking visits to all four schools. While NU got the last visit, FSU had clearly already made a strong impression on the 6-foot-6, 215-pounder.
A four-star prospect according to ESPN, On3 and Rivals, Loftin was a dominant Class B star for Elkhorn North. Last season, he caught 34 passes for 440 yards and six touchdowns. He transferred to Millard South in the offseason. The Patriots are packed with star players, including quarterback Jett Thomalla, receiver Amarion Jackson and 2026 tight end Isaac Jensen, who has offers from NU, FSU, A&M and Mizzou, among other schools.
Generally considered the No. 2 prospect in Nebraska for 2025, Loftin becomes the 11th FBS commit in the state. Five are committed to Nebraska, two are headed to Texas Tech, with one each headed to Kansas State, Stanford, Northern Illinois and now Florida State.
While Nebraska coach Matt Rhule has been more successful than several predecessors in retaining in-state talent, many tight ends over the last decade have chosen to play outside the state, including Noah Fant (Iowa), Ben Brahmer (Iowa State), Kaden Helms (OU), Micah Riley (Auburn), Kade McIntyre (OU), 2025 prospect Reiman Zebert (Stanford) and Chase Loftin’s older brother, Brayden, who plays at Kansas State.
The state’s top-ranked prospect, Westside linebacker Christian Jones, remained uncommitted after taking visits to Nebraska, Oklahoma and Auburn in June. Jones has indicated some interest in waiting to announce his decision.
