Heinrich Klaasen is posing for photos with his young toddler on the outfield. How different things could have been.
India captain Rohit Sharma: "It is very hard to sum up what we have been through for three or four years. There has been a lot behind the scenes. So winning this game isn't just about what we did today, it's about those years, it's all that hard work.
"We've played a lot of high pressure games that we've been on the wrong side of. We now understand what needs to be done when the pressure is on. Today is the perfect example of what we can do with our backs against the wall. It was going South Africa's way but we wanted it so badly.
"To win a tournament, a lot goes on behind the scenes and I am so proud of all of my boys and the management for giving us the liberty and trusting in each one of us.
On Virat Kohli: "None of us doubted him. We know his quality. He has been at the top of his game for 15 years now. Big players will step up in big occasions and he played a crucial knock today. It was a team effort to get to that total but we knew we needed someone to bat time and he did that perfectly, using all his experience."
On Jasprit Bumrah: "I can understand when you say you can't put him into words but I have played with him for years, and even I don't know how he does it! It is a masterclass. He backs his skills, which is enough for him. He is a class act."

Up goes the trophy! The celebrations begin!
For the first time in more than a decade, India can call themselves world champions.
India have collected their medals. They are all as happy as you would imagine them to be. It's been a while.
South Africa captain Aiden Markram: "Gutted. It will take some time for us to reflect on this. We've had a great campaign but for the time being, this hurts. I am so proud of all my players and everyone involved in this team.
"We bowled very well, the pitch didn't give them much to work with. We thought it was a chaseable total. It was a great game of cricket, I'm chuffed with all my guys, it's hard not to get over the line but I'll always be proud of them.
"We've seen that it's not over until the last ball for a lot of our games. It changed quickly at the end there. But we were in a great position. We know we could've won the game.
"One thing you can guarantee from South African people is that they are competitive, but they are respectful. We pride ourselves on that. Hopefully moving forward we can learn from this and use it.
"This will always be a proud day for us, regardless."

It is a lonely place for Aiden Markram. He would've been imagining that winning moment, it would be impossible not to.
He has now got to watch Rohit Sharma lift the trophy instead.

India are formidable, they have got all bases covered in all conditions. No matter where in the world Jasprit Bumrah bowls, it doesn't matter, he will make stuff happen.
This has been led by Virat Kohli's professionalism and his high standards. That catch from Suryakumar, the explosiveness in the field, how fit they all are. He drove that.
Now it's Rohit's team and he'll lift the trophy today. He led from the front with his batting approach in this tournament.
This experience could see them go on to dominate now, it is an experience that will serve them very well.

I don't think it's quite that simple. Jasprit Bumrah is just that good, he is from another planet.
He is able to keep things clear and calm under the most pressure and it is just incredible.
If South Africa won that, Virat Kohli would've been under real criticism. But that's how fine the margins are in cricket.

It was the ultimate bottle-job from South Africa today. They were cruising.
Heinrich Klaasen's wicket was huge but David Miller was still there, that should've been enough.
South Africa's players are still out there, spread apart, not talking. They've let another one slip.
But that is just how good Jasprit Bumrah is. He's been the player of the tournament by a country mile.
South Africa have been a batter short throughout the tournament, we said it throughout, and it cost them today.
Player of the match, India batter Virat Kohli: "This was my last T20 World Cup and this is exactly what we wanted to achieve. It was an amazing game. One day you feel like you can't get a run but one day, things just click.
"I am so proud to get the runs for the team the day it mattered most. The occasion prompted that change for me, I felt like it was now or never. We have wanted to lift a trophy for a long time. The occasion made me put my head down, respect the situation and play the innings that the team needed from me.
"It is time for the new generation to come through for India now. We have some amazing players coming through and they have to take this team forwards now.
"I wasn't feeling myself before today. I wasn't confident. So I am very grateful and humble right now. It has been difficult, so there are a lot of emotions.
"It hasn't quite sunk in for me yet. It's an amazing day, I am so thankful." Steven Finn

The hard training sessions, the early mornings, the fitness tests, the time away from home and with loved ones.
This is the moment for India where all of that pays off.

The biggest feeling is relief, to get over the line after so much hard work. It's like you're in a daze and you're not in real life.
You could see that in how Hardik Pandya was speaking then. The emotions take over.
There is no better feeling.
Player of the tournament, India bowler Jasprit Bumrah: "I am someone who tries to keep my emotions in check but the emotions are taking over right now. This is such a special feeling.
"We felt like were in real trouble in the middle overs out there so it is a great feeling.
"I am over the moon. My son is here, my whole family. I wanted to do something special for India. There is no better feeling than this.
"I felt good, the whole time. I felt like I was in a bubble, staying in the moment and taking each game at a time. But it's the big game, the big occasion, and I knew I had to keep things the same and not get carried away.
"When I'm in my peak mindset, I am able to take it one ball at a time. That's what worked for me today. The job is done and the emotions are coming out now, I just want to scream and shout!
"The 16th over, it was a run-a-ball and we were up against it. But the ball was scuffed, I knew I could get reverse-swing. I am just happy that I kept calm and executed it."
India all-rounder Hardik Pandya: "This means a lot. It's so emotional right now, we have worked so hard for this.
"Something wasn't clicking for us recently but today, it did and we got to give our people what they were waiting for.
"I haven't said a word over the last six months when a lot of things have been said about me. It has been unfair but I knew that I could shine. This makes it so much more special.
"We always believed we could do it from any situation if we stayed calm and executed our plans. We had to let the pressure get to them. I won't forget this feeling for a long time."
Here it is. Judge for yourself. Yep, we see plenty of them, but that takes nothing away from the skill. And in that moment? Unreal.

I've only just remembered that Suryakumar catch. I'm standing by it as the best of all time. If he steps on the rope, it's six, and South Africa probably go on to win.
