Every team has played its opening match in the 2024 Copa América tournament. After the first round of group stage matches, the dynamics in each group are becoming clearer.
Argentina, Venezuela, Uruguay and Colombia all lead their respective groups after winning their opening matches and leading the groups in goals scored.
Three of those teams – Argentina, Uruguay and Colombia – are among the favorites to win the tournament and are not major surprises at the tops of their groups. Venezuela is a bit more of a shock atop Group B and have boosted their odds to move on significantly after upsetting Ecuador, 2-1, to begin tournament play.
Also notable from the group’s opening matches – Brazil’s 0-0 draw with Costa Rica, which leaves the squad squarely behind Colombia early in Group D.
