Maryland football adds pledge from Florida linebacker Travares Daniels II – 247Sports

Maryland football kicked off a busy Friday of commitment decisions on a positive note as three-star linebacker Travares Daniels II committed to the Terps.
Daniels had previously committed to Indiana back in April, but stepped away from his pledge on June 10 and ultimately flipped to Maryland a could weeks later. He also held offers from Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan State, Ole Miss and Tennessee among others.
“I will be committing June 28th, I am certain this is going to be my next home for sure!” Daniels tweeted leading up to his decision date Friday. He noted that he is “Beyond blessed” in with his commitment to Maryland.
Daniels is listed at 6-foot-1, 200 pounds an plays a key role for a big-time Florida high school football program in St. Thomas Aquinas. Here’s his junior year scouting report from Andrew Ivins:
“Totaled 70 tackles (7 TFL), 5 PBU, 4 sacks, 3 QBH, a FF and a FR for a St. Thomas Aquinas program, which went 14-1 and won a Florida 3M table.”
Daniels’ film shows him playing as an outside linebacker, possessing quick closing speed and a nose for the football against both the pass and run. He has the athleticism to slide out into coverage while also being able to set the edge.
Maryland football is continuing to stock the linebacker position with young talent, preparing to lose seniors Ruben Hyppolite II and Donnell Brown after this fall. Daniels joins three-star Carlton Smith as the Terps’ commitments at the position thus far in the Class of 2025 with other prospects they hope to add to the list.
Daniels also adds to the longtime connection of Florida talent to end up in College Park, sharing the same hometown as three-star freshman Dimitry Nicolas who flipped to the Terps from Auburn in the Class of 2024. Maryland is up to five commitments out of Florida this cycle while also having 15 Floridians on the roster this upcoming season.
