The 2030 World Cup will be hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco—with commemorative matches in Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina—and six years before its kickoff, the organizing committee has already started planning the stage for the grand final: the Santiago Bernabéu.
LaLiga Releases Official Schedule for Upcoming Season
The Bernabéu, home of Real Madrid, could potentially host a second World Cup final (the first being in 1982) if it is confirmed that the stadium located on Avenida Concha Espina in the Chamartín district is chosen. It is worth noting that FIFA recently announced the host stadiums for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
One of the main “problems” FIFA would face in choosing the Bernabéu as the main venue is that Real Madrid would not be willing to give up their stadium for such a long time; however, the relationship between Gianni Infantino (FIFA president) and Florentino Pérez (Real Madrid president) is excellent and could be key in ironing out the final details.
For now, the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) has announced the following stadiums as potential venues for the World Cup, of which only 11 will be chosen: Camp Nou (Barcelona), RCDE Stadium (Barcelona), San Mamés (Bilbao), Santiago Bernabéu (Madrid), Metropolitano (Madrid), La Cartuja (Seville), Nou Mestalla (Valencia), Anoeta (San Sebastián), La Romareda (Zaragoza), Riazor (La Coruña), Balaídos (Vigo), La Rosaleda (Málaga), Gran Canaria (Las Palmas), Nueva Condomia (Murcia), El Molinón (Gijón). However, with Morocco joining the bid, it is expected that the number of Spanish stadiums may be reduced, although there is no official confirmation that this will happen.
