Randy Baron has been appointed as the new head coach for the Brevard High School boys soccer team. Baron grew up in Miami, Florida where he began playing soccer at the age of 10.
Surrounded by a diverse cultural environment, he developed a deep passion for the game.
Throughout high school, he played, coached and refereed at a local club, earning All American, All State and All City honors.
Barton played with the reigning National Champions, Miami Dade South Jr. College.
After helping the team qualify for another National Championship run in his freshman year, he transferred to the University of South Florida in Tampa, a D1 school ranked seventh in the country where he played for two seasons. A highlight of his senior year was training as a reserve player for the Tampa Bay Rowdies under NASL Coach of the Year Eddie Firmani.
After earning his bachelor’s in communications and a minor in business management, Baron returned to Miami where he coached and played for two semi-pro teams and co-opened Miami’s first soccer store. Although he eventually pursued a corporate career, soccer remained a constant in his life.
In 1992, Baron relocated to western North Carolina to manage various small businesses while raising a family. His love for soccer never waned leading him to coach his son’s TYSA teams and volunteer for the middle school team.
Now retired, Baron serves on the local club’s executive board and coaches an 18U travel team. He is excited to bring his extensive experience and passion for soccer to the Brevard High School Men’s Soccer program.
“I couldn’t feel more at home with the beautiful game,” he said. “I’m excited to contribute to the success of the Brevard High School Men’s Soccer team and help our players grow both on and off the field.”
