Former Golden Eaglets player, Hamzat Ojediran, has said he aims to secure a place in the senior national team, the Super Eagles, ahead of the remaining World Cup matches in 2025.
The Guardian reports that Ojediran, based on his sterling performances for his Ligue 1 team, Lens, is hopeful that the coach of the Super Eagles will consider him, as he believes he has the quality to compete at the highest level.
Despite suffering a hamstring injury after joining Les Sang et Or from Bulgarian side Debrecen, the former junior international midfielder quickly settled into the club’s setup and claimed a starting spot in the lineup.
Lens initially planned to integrate the 21-year-old into the B-side, but in an astonishing turn of events, only two weeks after joining, he made his way into the main team structure.
Currently, the former KF Egnatia player has made eight appearances for his team in Ligue 1 and is eager to increase his contribution to the team’s success as the league enters its second half in 2025.
He said, “It has been worth it, and I hope it gets better in the second half, by the grace of God.
“No player who doesn’t dream of representing his national team, and that is my goal as well,” he said.
“I know I have to play more to earn it, and that is my goal for the second half of the season.
“It will help me to realize my dream of playing for Nigeria at the senior level,” he concluded.
Ojediran played for Nigeria U17 at the 2019 U-17 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, and according to Transfermarkt, he’s worth €2.00m.
