2025 California wide receiver Legend Lyons commits to Minnesota Football – 247Sports

Minnesota’s big football recruiting time was last weekend and this as it’s PJ Fleck’s famed “Summer Splash” official visit weekends. Coming into this weekend, the Gophers had seventeen commitments, as they have California quarterback Jackson Kollock, Ohio running back Grant Washington, in-state wide receiver Cameron Begalle and Florida’s Bradley MartinoOhio tight end Cross Nimmo, offensive linemen Nelson McGuireZac Stascausky and Nick Spence, defensive linemen Emmanuel KarmoEnoch AtewogbolaAbu TarawallieRhett Hlavacka and Colin Hansen, linebackers Nathan Cleveland and Ethan Stendel, and corners Zachry Harden and Naiim Parrish.
With the Gophers looking to continue their recruiting momentum into mid-June, they just added a verbal commitment from Covina (Cali.) Charter Oak wide receiver Legend Lyons.

2025 Covina (Cali.) wide receiver Legend Lyons burst onto the scene last fall as a junior where he caught 74 passes for nearly 1,000 yards. Colleges started to notice with early offers from places like Kansas, UtahArkansasWashington State and Oregon State among others, but a Big Ten school in Minnesota was the first to set an official visit with him.
Here’s some of what Lyons said ahead of his visit.
“From Minnesota, I’ve been talking with wide receivers coach Matt Simon. He’s a great coach, and he just been talking about how he likes my game. How I’m an aggressive catcher with route running for my size. He says he can develop me to become a great receiver. Another coach I’ve been talking to is OC Greg Harbaugh, and he just said that he is excited for me to come visit campus and I have a big year ahead of me.”
With Bradley Martino and Cameron Begalle already in this ’25 receiver class, Lyons’ could potentially be the best ball-catcher of the three. You put on his junior tape and every catch on there is away from his body. He’s either jumping to high-point the football or making a contested catch away from his body in traffic. Give me 6-0+ guys like that all day. Being able to get Lyons committed before he went to check out some Big 12 programs is also a plus.
Stay tuned for more on Lyons’ commitment.
