Tessa Knapp
Senior, Bay
In a loaded class of 2025, the Notre Dame signee still separated herself from the pack. She concluded her Bay career as a state champion and the OHSAA’s all-time leading scorer. Knapp scored 64 goals, with 14 assists, this season. She is the No. 1 goal scorer in Ohio who performed in the biggest moments. Knapp had three goals against Rocky River in a Division III state semifinal. In the final minute of the state championship match, Knapp had the game-winning assist.
Scott Simpson, Bay
In his first year with the Rockets, Simpson led Bay to its first state championship since 2003. Bay did not lose a game all season. In 24 games, the Rockets tied twice (against Rocky River and Medina) and won 22 showdowns. In a Division III state semifinal rematch with Rocky River, Bay avenged its 2023 playoff loss with a 4-1 victory. Avon Lake’s defense did not allow a goal in a calendar month, heading into the Division III regional semifinal against Bay. It took the Rockets less than 30 seconds to score in an eventual 8-0 victory.
GK Caitlin Rose, Sr., Rocky River
Rose had 11 shutouts en route to a 21-1-1 record. The Pirates did not lose a game until the Division III state semifinal. She recorded 54 saves to become a first-team all-district selection.

En route to a Division III regional finals appearance, she recorded 146 saves. The Shoregals shut out all of their opponents in October, with her as a staple between the posts. She was first-team SWC and Lorain County.
D Lexi Hammermeister, Sr., Rocky River
Hammermeister is signed to Mercyhurst (Division I) and anchored the Pirates back line. Rocky River gave up 21 goals all year, with 11 shutouts. She was named Division III All-Ohioan and first-team all-district.

M Emery Aschenbrener, Sr., Bay
Even with a star like Knapp on offense, Aschenbrener made her presence known. The University of Dayton signee was a formidable threat who recorded 27 assists, tied for first in Ohio by MaxPreps. As a Division III All-Ohioan, her signature moment was scoring in back-to-back playoff games in the absence of Knapp. Her goals led to a 1-0 district final win against CVCA and a 2-0 victory over Louisville.
F Ella Henton, Sr., Westlake
She was by far Westlake’s best goal scorer. With 19 goals and eight assists, she had her fingerprints on more than half of the Demons’ 42 goals. Henton was named a Division III All-Ohioan and first-team all-district.
F Allysa Gimmel, Sr., North Ridgeville

F Sophia Sindelar, Sr., Rocky River
As the reigning Ohio Ms. Soccer award winner, Sindelar was the closest to surpassing Knapp for The Morning Journal’s Player of the Year. Sindelar is signed to play in the SEC at Florida. Her 27 assists were in a three-way tie for first in Ohio’s MaxPreps leaderboard. With her 63 goals, Sindelar was in a close second with Knapp’s state-high 64 goals.
