SeattleFWC26 CEO Peter Tomozawa said Thursday that the Unity Loop — a 4.25-mile walking trail stretching from Lumen Field to Seattle Center and back — “will open to pedestrians ahead” of the 2026 World Cup in Seattle, according to Rick Morgan of the PUGET SOUND BUSINESS JOURNAL. The Unity Loop, which will “resemble Boston’s Freedom Trail and New York City’s High Line, will remain after the World Cup ends.” The path will take people “to the waterfront, Westlake Park, Occidental Square and the Chinatown International District along the way.” Tomozawa said that there will be “110 murals throughout the city.” An accompanying app will “reward people who walk the trail with points that can be turned into World Cup swag.” For Tomozawa and SeattleFWC26, the organizing committee for Seattle’s World Cup bid, the loop is “about helping visitors take in Seattle scenery, food, shopping and more.” Tomozawa: “The World Cup will be used to help activate our city” (PUGET SOUND BUSINESS JOURNAL, 12/13).
