This marks the debut of the expanded 48-team tournament being hosted by a single nation, showcasing Saudi’s rich culture and hospitable spirit.
“We are incredibly excited to host the world’s largest sporting event,” says Saudi Tourism Authority CEO, Fahd Hamidaddin. “Saudi welcomed over 100 million visitors in 2023, and we are the fastest-growing tourism destination in the G20. As the Heart of Arabia, we are eager to welcome visitors to experience our beautiful country, and the breadth of its wonders – from the mountains of Aseer, to the shimmering waters of the Saudi Red Sea, the vast dunes, our human and natural heritage will dazzle and inspire. Our dynamic tourism sector ensures visitors have a seamless experience across all touchpoints, and we invite the world to experience the magic of Saudi now. Whether seeking adrenaline, culture or relaxation, a visit in advance of the World Cup will offer a taste of Saudi, and our famed hospitality, where, with hearts open, we invite everyone to experience the warmest of Saudi welcomes.”
The tournament cities include Riyadh, where ancient history meets modern entertainment at Diriyah; Jeddah, known for its stunning Red Sea vistas and the historic charm of Al Balad; Al Khobar, with its tranquil beaches and cultural sites; Abha, offering verdant scenery and outdoor adventures; and the futuristic NEOM, boasting cutting-edge innovations. Each city promises an immersive experience with state-of-the-art stadiums, luxurious amenities, lively fan zones, and a plethora of cultural festivities.
To celebrate winning the bid, the STA orchestrated vibrant events internationally, including performances by Saudi flash mobs at London’s Piccadilly Circus and the Dubai Mall fountain, highlighting the cultural richness of the upcoming host cities. Nationally, festivities were held at notable sites such as Salwa Palace, Historic Jeddah, Hegra, Rijal Almaa, and Ithra, encouraging locals to partake in the joyous occasion. Additionally, STA released a short film to globally invite visitors to discover the warmth and beauty of Saudi, capturing the nation’s pride and enthusiasm.
Saudi Arabia, with its fervent football community and portfolio of top-tier sporting events, is eager to share its heritage and dynamic culture. The kingdom offers diverse landscapes—from the pristine shores of the Red Sea with its extensive coastline to the sweeping deserts, rugged mountains, and the historical splendor of AlUla. The cosmopolitan city of Jeddah blends modernity with tradition, while Riyadh pulsates with life, offering visitors a rich tapestry of culture, history, and unforgettable moments.
