MARQUETTE – We’re nearing the end.
High school football season is coming to a close, which means the games are only getting bigger.
While no Cheboygan-area football teams remain in this year’s playoffs, there’s a few key matchups to keep an eye on this weekend.
On Saturday, the undefeated Pickford Panthers (12-0) will look to capture their first state championship since 2019 when they clash with Deckerville in an 11 a.m. MHSAA 8-Player Division 1 championship contest at the Superior Dome in Marquette.
Meanwhile, Boyne City (10-2) faces Lansing Catholic (9-3) in a 1 p.m. Division 6 semifinal at Clare.
Check back with the Daily Tribune for postseason scoring updates for Pickford, Boyne City and other Michigan football teams still in the playoffs.
